Maurille de Smalen (b 1970) is an abstract artist and storyteller. Who thrives at the crossroad of courage and vulnerability.

After a successful career in Fashion, Maurille transitioned into visual arts, creating evocative and playful works that evoke the rawness, curiosity and authenticity of childhood.

Maurille’s work is deeply rooted in exploration of self through movement, and color. Unraveling parts of herself hidden by society. In this, she continues to seek the female perspective.

She is fascinated and expresses the two contrasts, courage and vulnerability. She experiments with mediums like painting, textile art and writing.

Her journey is about connecting to the wild child that still lives inside. Raw and all.
