Artists Statement
I paint to uncover the part of myself I do not know yet. My work is highly intuitive, and with that, I explore the me that life asked me to hide. I love to capture the fragility of life, its details, the raw edges and the stories it holds.
To capture the dance between vulnerability and the bold. Marks led by imperfection and aleatory stains.
The stories I paint are moments I have lived and collected — I prefer the free and untouched. Unaware of social rules and regulations.
I find beauty in feelings that are raw and undefined. Those moments are fragile, imperfect, and filled with emotion. And the complexity of those combined.
My work is rooted in my love for the unexpected. There are wild gestures and quiet discoveries. Bold marks and tiny details that could easily go unnoticed — like a small animal that crossed the canvas and left secret traces behind. To me, detail is not decoration. It is proof that someone was here. Even if it is invisible, you can still feel it.
I work with acrylics and add detail with crayons, charcoal, pencil, markers, and soft pastels.. anything I can put my hands on. Here, play and aleatory marks (cleaning my brush on the canvas) are combined to create a strong vision. My marks are not intended to be nice, just there. It’s the combination of these imperfect marks that makes it one, not complete, as I prefer my painting to be unfinished and raw. Like they just happened and were not made on purpose.
My love for colour comes from my 20 years of fashion background. For years, designing was my way of saying here I am, this is who I am today, without using a single word. On the canvas, it is the same. Colours find each other. They match, they clash, they breathe together.
I have been living my whole life to be this artist. Through hardship, through living, through every experience that left something inside me, I had no other place to put.
